Importance of CTM (Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing) in Your Skincare Routine:
CTM is the key to healthy skin is a good skincare routine. Skincare products for CTM should be opted as per the skin type and its suitability.
- Cleansing: The first step in CTM is cleansing. Throughout the day your skin is exposed to sun, pollutants and other environmental stressors and your skin needs to counteract this constant exposure. Cleansing helps to remove dirt, grime, stale makeup from your skin and exfoliate dead skin, clean the clogged pores. It helps in skin renewal and boosts skin health.
How to cleanse: Take lukewarm water and use a good face wash with a deep cleaning function according to your skin type. Lather up the cleanser, gently apply it over your face and neck concentrating on all the areas of make-up application for at least 60 seconds going over then wash it off then gently pat your face dry with a towel. Don’t wash your face rigorously or frequently because this may wash away the natural oils from the skin and make it dry.
- Toning: The second step in the CTM routine is toning, which most of us tend to skip. It deep cleanses the skin despite cleansing and eliminates dead skin cells that may lead to unwanted breakouts, tighten the skin by reducing the size of the pores, and provides hydration. Toners also help to stabilize the skin’s natural pH balance, calm the skin, and helps prepare it for any moisturizers or serums that will follow.
How to tone: Always opt an alcohol-free toner or use rose water as it works as the best toner for any skin type. Soak cotton pads in the toner and sweep across your face and neck with upward and outward movements.
- Moisturizing: The third and final step in the CTM routine is moisturizing. By cleansing and toning skin loses its moisture and skin pores remain open, so moisturizing is very important. During this step, don't forget your lips. Daily moisturizing can reduce the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness and prevents the common skin problems like acne. A well-moisturized skin will feel soft, smooth, radiant and prevent skin aging.
How to moisturize: Take a small amount of moisturizer for your face because applying too much moisturizer may lead to clogged pores and produce blackheads. Use a light moisturizer that maintaining the elasticity of the skin by acting as a bridge between makeup and skin.
